Hi Everybody,
It seems for the summer it will be a two week newsletter... ! We assume everyone is enjoying the summer so far... we know Sailor Steve is! How about you John F. ? Now we are looking for David D. We hear he may be on the high seas for a three hour tour with Sailor Steve.
This Sunday Delma W. is celebrating 44 yrs, Lois J. 13 years and Willie M. 12 years at the 1 pm AA Mtg. We will have a Cookout at the Robert Moses Campgrounds Site 48 after the meeting. Please bring a chair, dish to pass, and good vibes! This will mark the 4th year we have celebrated all three together at Robert Moses Campground. In fact Lois J mentioned the celebration with the other two about three weeks ago. Its now tradition! Hope to see everyone at the meeting and cookout in support of these three living one day at a time. If you need directions, please contact Sue & Danny L.. Mark S. and Betsy E. will be joining us all the way from Florida! See you there
Last Sunday Gary M. made pulled pork and Michelle P. planned the dinner around that! We had beans, coleslaw and chips. It was a great summer meal on a hot day. Thanks Gary and Michelle. We finally caved and purchased ice cream for dessert, along with some cookies.( We can't wait for Sailor Steve to return to Ice Cream Steve). Although there were no cards for a second week in a row , we stayed until 4 pm shooting the breeze and solving the world's problems! Note: We have set up the tables so sitting outside is always an option for the sun worshipers.
The Sunday before we were at Coles Creek and had the Cookout there after the meeting. We had a small crowd but really enjoyed the people who did show up. It was great to see Mike P. drop by. We had a great time catching up with him. Doug K offered us a boat ride, and it was such a hot blistering day we all sat very still trying to keep cool. Doug K cooked some really good burgers and hotdogs and the fruit salad Delma W and Char B. brought was delicious. Thanks Karen M. for the salad. I can't remember what Carol H. brought but I'm sure it was good!! No cards again, Gaeton R. was out of town.
There is a lot of interest in the Tapping class Brian M will offer at the clubhouse. This technique can sometimes help with anxiety and depression. We were thinking of the Fall but can hold it in August if people want. Let us know if you are interested so we can make some definite plans. We are also bound and determined to scheduled the Bonnie Boldt Castle Tour in August. Newcomer Brian B. wants to go so who is on board! We are planning Fall activities. If you want to be part of the planning committee, talk to Sue L or Sara M.. There are a lot of suggestions , ideas and volunteers , we just have to implement them. We can't forget that Socialization is an important aspect of recovery. Thus, one of the goals of the clubhouse. We have to kick start the momentum now that we have all adjusted to a covid way of life.
