This Week @ 39 Serenity Place

  • Hi Everybody, Another two weeks has flown by... hope you are all enjoying the nice warm weather and stock piling your Vitamin D.! There will be a dinner on Sunday May 15 after the 1pm AA Meeting. We just are not sure what we are serving yet. Hopefully we will be able to sit outside and be covid safe at the same time. We have enjoyed a lot of meals thanks to all the volunteers... any volunteers for this weekend? Let Sue L know. Last week we celebrated Patti H.'s 23 Anniversary and Mothers Day all in one. Jim R. donated the chicken wings and several people brought salads , along with Karen M.'s goulosh etc. Char B made a great Macaroni salad. Maybe she will make it again this weekend. You never know. Desserts were plentiful. All of the Mothers were treated to specialty cupcakes from Fourth Coast Cafe, Kathy B brought a delicious chocolate cake and we served Ice cream Sundaes. I think there were some cookies in there as well! It was nice to see so many people come to Patti's Anniversary. Welcome back Brian M, Kathy B. & Becki B. Great to see you I'm not even sure who all cleaned up but thanks to those that did. And thanks to Michelle P. for cleaning the bathrooms. Naturally there was a card game.... It was so busy, I am not even sure who played.. We are sad to say, Ice Cream Steve is Now Sailor Steve so we will have to survive without the ice Cream for a while. The Sunday before Pam B and Char B & Jim R. brought pizza and Sue L made a Ceasars Salad. it was a smaller crowd and we still managed to eat all the food! We had ice cream and cookies for desert ( thanks to Ice Cream Steve) Thanks Char and Pam. It was a good meal. there were two tables of card games and no movie yet. We may just have to postpone that idea until the Fall. Other news: thanks Doug K for hauling away the garbage from the clubhouse. It sure looks much cleaner outside. Also to David D. who continues to clean up the garbage left on the driveway. Who knows where is all come from but we appreciate both people for helping out. Also thanks to Willie M., Michelle P. and Sue L for continually cleaning the clubhouse the past five months. It is looking good. The month of June we will be sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast and a Garage Sale for Clubhouse fundraisers . We need all the help we can get so help us out and volunteer your services for one of these events. Mike R. is looking into a Pontoon Boat event for the clubhouse and of course will be camping through the summer. Darcy F. is still going to offer the Cricket Class..(we had to postpone due to unforseen circumstances.) Kenny B talked about taking a trip to the Bill Wilson House and He and Becki B want to offer Back to Basics sometime in July. Also, NA has events planned and there are flyers at the clubhouse promoting the events stop in and check it out. Don't forget, St John's Episcopal Church has invited the Clubhouse to a Picnic on Fathers Day.(June) It will be held at Barnhardt Beach Pavillion and they are asking if we can bring a dish to pass for those that are able. Sue L will be collecting names of people who would like to go so contact her if you are interested. The house is starting to be used by Sponsors to do Step work. Now we need to work on expanding the open hours and thought we would start with the afternoons. Al-Anon Started the Step Meeting on Mondays at 5:30 and the Woman's meeting has been revamped and participation has increased. An important message worth repeating!! We received a 162.00 donation last week in memory of Kylie McDonald. Thank-you for thinking of the clubhouse. A reminder that meeting held at the clubhouse include: Mondays @ 4:30 PM Al-Anon ; Al-Anon Step Work 5:30 PM Tuesdays @ 7:00 pm PM AA Open Wednesdays @ 5:00 pm Woman's Mtg.
